Creative meetings for people 50+ start soon at Brooklyn Public Library in Greenpoint!

Are you over 50 and have Polish roots?
Do you like to discuss, discover, and tell stories?
Greenpoint 50+ is for you!

Greenpoint 50+ is a series of open, free, and creative meetings for people 50 years old and older of Polish ancestry for whom Greenpoint, Polish culture, and the experience of emigration are important in their life. During the meetings we will talk about: identity, time, memory, multiculturalism and much more; we will watch interesting movie pieces and read curious texts. Each meeting will include an inspiring guest. Join us!

Start: 30th of April, 1.30 pm, Brooklyn Library in Greenpoint, 107 Norman Ave, Brooklyn, New York, 11222.

Tuesday, April 30th from 1:30-3:00 PM: Where are we from?

How history, culture, and ancestries affect who we are. How the past influences the present. How memory works and is the difference between what we remember and what actually happened.

Tuesday, May 7th from 1:30-3:00 PM: Where are we?

How the place of our birth determines the rest of our lives. How traveling, migrations, and returns influence who we are. How much do we know and how much should we know about the places we are currently at and the ones we aiming for.

Tuesday, May 14th from 1:30-3:00 PM: Where are we going to?

What is going to happen with us in 1, 100, or 1,000 years? Where are we aiming as individuals, nations, planet, galaxy? Why do we prefer to fantasize about the far future rather than take actions here and now?

Participation is FREE OF CHARGE. Seats are limited. The meeting will be provided in Polish.
